In Queensland, land clearing legislation can be multi-layered and confusing…
Flora trigger maps
For instance, did you know that even if you are exempt from permit requirements under the Vegetation Management Act 1999, if your clearing area is located in a high risk (blue) area on a ‘flora trigger map’, you may be legally required to have the clearing area surveyed by a suitably qualified person?
Flora trigger maps and their survey requirements come under the Nature Conservation (Wildlife Management) Regulation 2006. You can get a flora trigger map for your property from the Queensland government at: https://www.ehp.qld.gov.au/licences-permits/plants-animals/protected-plants/map-request.php
You can get more information on the flora trigger map survey requirements from: https://www.ehp.qld.gov.au/licences-permits/plants-animals/protected-plants/#proposed_clearing_in_a_high
